POINT LOOKOUT, MO – Quarterfinal play opened at the 2026 NCCAA DI Men's Basketball National Championship, with #3 Lancaster Bible College, #4 CIU, #7 Nelson AIC, and #8 College of the Ozarks taking home first round victories on Wednesday, March 18.
Game One: #3 Lancaster Bible College 89, #6 Clinton College 87
A game winning layup from the Chargers with six seconds remaining pushed #3 Lancaster Bible College (Pa.) to an 89-87 win over #6 Clinton College (SC) to open quarterfinal play.
Lancaster Bible (21-8) was charged up early, as a pair of threes swelled the Charger lead to 12-4 with 16:27 left in the first half.
Senior guard Jordan Snipes Campbell started a run for Clinton, as he found junior forward Nathaniel Pruitt inside for a dunk, before sophomore wing Cori Miller nailed a contested layup and then drilled a corner three to cut the LBC lead to 16-15. Another three from Miller and a jumper from Snipes Campbell put Clinton ahead 26-25 halfway through the opening stanza.
Made shots from senior guards Kipp Richvine and Snipes Campbell pushed the Golden Bear lead to 35-30 late in the half but LBC hit four straight shots from beyond the arc in just over two minutes to put Lancaster Bible back ahead 42-37. The Charger defense held Clinton without a make from the field for the final 3:15 of the first half, and Lancaster Bible took a 48-40 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Clinton closed the gap to open the second half, as freshman forward Marion Hopkins went on a 6-0 scoring run by himself to cut the LBC lead to 48-46. The two sides traded buckets for a bit, with a pair of makes from deep by juniors Jaquez Richmond and Daquan Amlett to trim the LBC lead to 64-62 with 11:50 remaining.
Snipes Campbell continued to be a sharp shooter for the Golden Bears, converting an and-one and nailing a triple, before a second AND1 connection from the sophomore and a three-ball from Amlett put Clinton ahead 73-68 with 8:27 left in the game. A three from Miller put the Bears ahead by six late, but Lancaster Bible battled back, to tie the contest at 82 apiece with under two minutes left.
Freshman guard Blake Gascoigne responded for Clinton with 32 seconds left on a three to tie it at 87, but LBC drove into the lane for the tough layup, putting Lancaster Bible up 89-87 with six seconds remaining. Pruitt's chance to tie fell short at the horn, and LBC held on for the 89-87 win. Snipes Campbell led all scorers with 21 points for Clinton, while also adding two assists. Miller finished with 15 points while Richmond and Richvine each added 11 apiece.
Clinton fell to 17-8 overall but came back Friday morning with a 71-65 consolation win over 2nd seeded Hannibal-LaGrange Univ. (MO) to move into the 5th place game on Friday evening against Bethel Univ. (IN).
