Coach Hunt began his career in basketball with six years of middle and high school coaching experience, including helping guide the Memphis Home Education Association (MHEA) to the 2019 Homeschool National Championship while coaching five Homeschool All-American selections.
Transitioning to the collegiate level, Hunt served as an assistant coach at Blue Mountain College from 2020–2022 before joining Shorter University in 2022. During his time at Blue Mountain College, he recruited and coached 3-all freshman team members and the Freshman of the year. In 2022, BMC recorded its highest win total in the past seven years. At Shorter, he played a pivotal role in the program’s resurgence, highlighted by the first top ten ranking in the Division II era, a Southwest Division Championship in Conference Carolinas, and the largest single-season win increase in the NCAA during the 2024–2025 season. His efforts also produced multiple All-Conference players and consistent team academic success, including WBCA Academic Honor Roll recognition.
Academically, Hunt earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Memphis (2017) and his Master’s in Management from Shorter University (2024). He remains committed to developing student-athletes both on the court and in the classroom, with his teams consistently achieving GPAs above 3.4.
Known for his energy, strategic leadership, and ability to connect with players, Coach Hunt embodies the balance of competitiveness and mentorship. His coaching philosophy is built on the pillars of Family, Serve, and Teach as he wants to create an environment where players grow as athletes and as people.
