Camille Newton #6
Sophomore | Lugoff, SC | Defensive Specialist/ Libero

Entering her sophomore season at Clinton, Camille Newton has already made a strong impact within the Clinton Volleyball program. A returning 5’4” libero/defensive specialist from Lugoff, South Carolina, Camille has shown that impact is not determined by size, but by heart, courage, preparation, and a willingness to compete for every point.

Known as a small but mighty force on the court, Camille has become a key part of the team’s defensive identity. In her role as a libero/DS, she helps control the back row, communicates effectively with her teammates, and brings consistency and energy to every match. Her discipline, confidence, and ability to adjust have helped her continue developing as a player.

Camille’s journey to Clinton reflects the importance of finding the right fit. She chose Clinton because of the family atmosphere, the support within the program, and the opportunity to be part of a place where she could truly be herself. She wanted an environment where she could enjoy the game, keep improving, and be surrounded by people who believed in her.

Originally unsure if she wanted to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level, Camille’s perspective changed after connecting with Coach T and Coach Ari. They helped her see that college volleyball could still be enjoyable, meaningful, and centered around relationships. Her experience at Clinton confirmed that belief as she became part of a team culture built on faith, honesty, and accountability.

During the historic 2025 season, Camille played a role in helping Clinton Volleyball capture the program’s first-ever Regional Championship title. Whether competing on the court or supporting her teammates from the sideline, she embraced her role and contributed to the success of the team.

Championship teams are built by players who show up every day, embrace their responsibilities, and make those around them better. Camille represents that mindset. She understands that every contribution matters, whether it is a defensive play, a word of encouragement, or the energy needed to keep the team connected.

Beyond volleyball, Camille continues to grow as a student-athlete and leader. She demonstrates strong leadership through her positivity, coachability, commitment, compassion, respect, and kindness. Camille believes leadership is about uplifting teammates, building confidence, and helping others feel valued. Her ability to bring joy, encouragement, and positive energy to the team makes her an important part of the program’s culture.

Camille also embraces a growth mindset, understanding that challenges and mistakes are opportunities to improve. Her desire to grow in her faith, develop as a person, and become the best version of herself reflects the values of Clinton Volleyball.

As she enters her sophomore season, Clinton Volleyball is excited for Camille’s continued growth and contributions. Her resilience, competitive spirit, defensive presence, and commitment to the team make her an important part of the program’s future.
